Sixth Form students at Charter East celebrate best ever results!

We are bursting with pride today as students, staff and families come together to celebrate the best set of A-level and BTEC results at The Charter School East Dulwich since opening their Sixth Form.

This year’s results are up significantly on last year, with over 92% of students securing places at their first or second choice university and Post-18 destination. On average, students achieved over half a grade higher than national averages, a testament to their hard work, resilience, and the unwavering support of our school community.

Headteacher, Alison Harbottle reflected:

“I am absolutely thrilled by the achievements of our Year 13 students. Their dedication and determination, especially through a challenging final year, have been nothing short of inspiring. These results are a reflection of their strength of character and the incredible support from our staff and families. We couldn’t be prouder. As they step into the next chapter of their lives, we send them our warmest congratulations and best wishes.”

Highlights from this year’s results:

-Average A-level Point Score: was 39.5 (Grade B) – surpassing both national and Southwark averages for 2024.

-Value added score: +0.57 overall and an exceptional +0.58 for disadvantaged students (FSM)

-35% of all A-level grades were A*/A, with 65% at a grade B or higher, both up from 8% last year.

-80% students earned at least one B grade or higher, and 50% achieved at least one A grade - increases of 16% and 10% respectively from last year.

Subject highlights:

• Mathematics - 56% A*/A

• Fine Art - 59% A*/A

• Physics - 47% A*/A

• Photography - 57% A*/A

• Spanish - 71% A/A*

• Further Mathematics - 50% A/A*

• Film Studies - 50% A/A*

These results reflect the vibrant, inclusive, and ambitious spirit of Charter East. Since opening in 2016, the school has grown from 120 students to over 1,400, driven by its mission to celebrate our diverse community, educate our students to thrive and confidently shape their futures with a love of learning, excellent qualifications and strength of character.

Students are now heading off to an exciting range of destinations to study a range of subjects at top Universities including Cambridge, Manchester and Leeds.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to every student and their families. Your achievements are extraordinary, and we can’t wait to see all the amazing things you’ll do next.
