Supported writing is a teaching approach which transforms teacher-led shared writing into collaborative independent writing, where everybody is working on their own unique outcome, workshop style! Charles Dickens Primary School uses it to teach writing in all year groups from Year 1 onwards, and the approach has just been successfully trialled in an EEF-funded pilot in Year 5. The positive impact on teacher enjoyment of teaching writing and on the children's engagement and outcomes has been significant. Nicola will talk through the findings from the recent pilot before she and Robert lead mini workshops, demonstrating how it works in KS1 and KS2.
