Teaching Assistant - Primary

About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate, patient, experienced Teaching Assistant to join our inclusive and supportive team at Loughborough Primary School. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of working closely with children who have complex SEND needs, including but not limited to autism, ADHD, sensory processing difficulties, and speech and language disorders. You will play a pivotal role in helping to create a positive, safe, and stimulating learning environment in our in-house SEND nurture base. You will be working alongside a lead HLTA (Higher Learning teaching assistant) with close guidance from the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator).

What skills and experience we're looking for

Essential Criteria:

  • Extensive experience supporting children with complex SEND needs in a primary school or similar setting.
  • A sound understanding of a wide range of SEND conditions and evidence-based strategies to support them.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to remain calm, patient and flexible in challenging situations.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
