The Belham Primary is a free school with a vision for outstanding learning based on a glittering curriculum where everyone matters at the heart of the community of Peckham Rye.
Our approach to learning at The Belham ensures that standards of the National Curriculum are met but that children's education is extended far beyond this. We offer a highly enriched curriculum and a wide range of experiences to foster children's curiosity about the wider world.
The visual arts, design and technology, music and drama all play different roles in helping our children develop skills for life. Essential to our creative curriculum is using the incredible resources that London provides: from museums, theatres, parks and public buildings to the wide range of people themselves. The taught curriculum also reflects the diversity and vibrancy of the local community: socially, culturally and ethnically. Our curriculum is supplemented by highly experienced specialist staff and regular visits from experts in our topic areas.
We promote a positive, energetic and caring atmosphere in which children feel safe and secure and want to come to school. We are dedicated to equality and opportunity where all children and adults are respected, regardless of race, ethnicity or ability.
Our vision for education is enriched through our core values based on ‘Being a Belhamite’. These are the personal and social qualities we teach and promote. They are what make our school a happy, collaborative and inspiring place to learn.
