Our highly enriched ‘glittering’ curriculum is based on strong artistic approaches to curriculum design, robust subject knowledge and an exceptional commitment to ensuring that each and every child's needs are met and children are ready for senior school.
Dulwich Hamlet Junior School has been a cornerstone of the community since its inception in 1897. It is widely known for educational excellence and as champions of outstanding learning through innovative, creative education.
We are particularly proud of our musical tradition, with every child taught to compose, perform, listen to, appraise, and appreciate music.
We have developed and nurtured many young musical talents through a large scale instrument teaching programme, choirs and we provide many opportunities for pupils to perform and demonstrate their musicality.
Whilst Dulwich Hamlet Junior School is about helping the individual to blossom, this is not pursued at any cost. Our school is about being yourself, valuing community and mutual respect. We teach the important things in life – manners, kindness, and the wherewithal to get along with others. Alongside this, children learn emotional literacy, mental and physical health and social skills though our carefully developed PHSE curriculum and there is additional support for children who struggle with their mental health and wellbeing.
We believe that our pupils should be encouraged to aim as high as they can whilst also enjoying their childhood, and benefitting from as many opportunities and experiences as possible. We offer a wide range of in-class and extra-curricular activities for pupils of all gifts, talents and interests to pursue their skills in an inquisitive and independent manner. We have an award winning garden, eco-council, a wide-ranging sports programme.
